Flawless?
I have to agree with everything said here. I wasn't at the show but listening to it is quite a treat. Some people are not fans of the new material that the PLQ recorded but I thought it was very strong material. "The Real Thing" is a great ballad and this band really makes it powerful. It is too bad that Warren seems out of the loop now. The "Q" was the first thing since the GD to really turn my crank. One can only hope for a future reunion.

What a great run. What a pity Warren does not play with them anymore.

Herring jam out of Slipknot! > Eleven = Heat
'Nuff said in the title of this review. Best Help>Slip sandwich from p&f I've heard (7/30/02 being a VERY close second IMO...I have a different version of that show than is on archive currently...I'll upload it soon).
As for this show, performance=4.75 stars, recording=4.25 stars = 4.5 stars overall.

You want this one
This was a smoking show from start to finish. It was Phil & Friends first time back at the Orpheum in two years and the crowd was in desperate need of the Quintet. The energy of the crowd was absolutely incredible and the band gave it back. The opening jam into Sunshine of Your Love was solid and morphed into The Wheel. Somewhere in there they went into the second verse of Low Spark and then at then in a split second went right back into The Wheel, which confused everyone for a moment. The set closer of Built to Last, Eyes of The World and Mason's Children was absolutely incredible. From Built to Last on it felt like any of them could have been the set closer but they just kept on going and putting the crowd into a frenzy.
The second set was just as energized. Wharf Rat was nice, mellow and well harmonized. The Help>Slipknot! was as good as you could ask for. Jimmy Herring smoked into The Eleven. The Q was hitting on all cylinders this night and the crowd absorbed every moment. To me, this was the show you went for. This is what it's like when the band is playing inspired and the crowd in enveloped in the sound. I've listened to this show a few times since I've had it and it brings me back to that energy and to that performance. This show will be how I remember and what will define Phil and Friends to me. The encore was a mellow, but solid choice. The Quintet reminded us that they are and always will be, The Real Thing.
